(year 2001)Alpacas?!?!?! What are you talking about? Are you kidding?  Are you serious?

Fast forward to 2002….After visiting several alpaca farms, much research, and discussions, we found ourselves at a large alpaca farm in NE Kansas.  Beautiful landscape, watching the alpacas proding to the barn for feeding time.  Lots of different colors and soft…..oh so soft.  Hours later picking out 4 open females, one female with cria, and an 8 month old true black male.

Of course we don’t own a stock trailer.  We spent every possible hour building fence and a small shed, getting ready for the day OUR farm would welcome OUR alpacas.

From that day to present, we have learned so much and come to appreciate them more and more.  Many years of ups and downs, lots of work, happy and sad times, we have grown in many ways. Countless hours in the barn cleaning stalls or watching the birthing process. Competing in the show ring and bringing home lots of ribbons honoring our success on the farm.  Our hearts are bursting with pride!!

Next, onto handling alpaca products in 2009. Socks, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters and much more. Attending small festivals and craft fairs around our area, so much fun and oh the people we met and learned from!! Let’s do more shows, bigger shows, and now the fall calendar is scheduled almost every weekend.

We have grown in leaps and bounds. Now to keep up with the scheduling, more events to attend, and yet keep up in the barn and around the farm.  Not to mention the once a year shearing, worming, and toenail trimming too.  Hours of carding the fleece and preparing it for shipping to the coop to make products for our farm store.

Never a dull moment here at the farm but that is ok, we love every minute.  Our hearts are full.  We love visitors and welcome new and returning shoppers.
